The Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia is iconic for its grand scale and historic architecture, but its massive size requires a custom audio-visual strategy to ensure the dance floor stays packed. We recently had the pleasure of curating the soundtrack and production design at this historic venue

With high ceilings and marble surfaces, sound clarity at the Crystal Tea Room can be challenging. To ensure even coverage for every guest, we deployed perimeter sound reinforcement. By strategically placing satellite speakers around the room, we achieved crisp, balanced audio that filled the space without being overwhelming for guests near the stage.

How We Designed It

To transform the ballroom, we designed a custom lighting package tailored to the space:

• Dance Floor Coverage: 4 intelligent moving heads provided dynamic light shows that evolved with the music.

• Stage Presence: Custom pixel tubes framed the DJ booth, creating a modern, high-end visual focal point.

• Guest Experience: We positioned the photo booth near the bar—a high-traffic hub—to ensure maximum engagement throughout the night.

• Perimeter Sound Coverage: We placed additional small speakers on the edges of the room to ensure that sound for formalities and speaches was heard evenly throughout the event space.

What We Played

Our goal was a multi-generational dance floor. We started the night with high-energy classics that bridged the gap between age groups, then ramped up the tempo. The setlist featured a seamless blend of:

• Early Vibes: Familiar Favorites to get guests of all ages on the dance floor, with remixes to elevate the energy early on.

• 2000s Pop Anthems: Universal crowd-pleasers that get everyone singing.

• Throwback Hip-Hop: Keeping the energy nostalgic yet relevant.

• Late-Night EDM Vibes and Remixes: A high-intensity finish to send the couple off on a high note.
